Caring about those who need help

What do we need and what can you do?

Chisomo Community School

The school exists because parents and guardians cannot afford the uniforms, books, and PTA fees to send their children to Government schools.

Buildings
We are attempting to build a classroom block, to replace the temporary shelters, comprising 3 classrooms, an office, toilets and kitchen. If we can construct one block, there is a good chance the Government will construct a second one. Thereafter we will examine the feasibility of further buildings. We need funds for cement, roofing sheets etc

Salaries
The teachers are not Government employees. They are currently being paid by a single individual donor, which is not a sustainable arrangement in the long term. Their pay - around GBP12 per month, is insufficient, and we would like to at least double it. Government teachers are paid between 10 and 15 times this sum. We are working on a plan to help the community raise money for salaries, but this will be a long process and the need is urgent. If you would like to sponsor one of the teachers, please send a message by clicking here

Supplies
We need to buy books, pencils, teachers' guides, desks, chairs, blackboards, and all those supplies necessary to keep a school operating.

How to help
All donations are important to us - large international donors are not interested in education projects like ours, so we know we will need to rely on the generosity of indivduals.
